In the afternoon, on August 29, 2014, BELTEI International University organized and held the Final Round of English Speaking Contest Program 2014 for Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 students. 20 contestants and 500 participants took part in this event. It was presided over by H.E. LY Chheng, Director-General of BELTEI Group and President of BELTEI International University.

Based on the report made by Mr. Ros Paradise, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Arts, and Humanities, there are 775 students currently studying in this university and they all have a chance to participate in the English Speaking Contest Program every August annually. There are 2 levels of English Speaking Contest:

1. University Campus Level: It is organized into four from year 1 to year 4, in which 20 contestants from the top-five winners of each category are selected for the Final Round of English Speaking Contest Program.

2. BELTEI Level: the Final Round is held in the conference Hall of BELTEI International University in order to select the first three places from each category. The prizes for the winners are:

- First Place: A 1^ST Place Medal, a Certificate, 300$ in cash, and a 100-percent scholarship for one year period of study to year 1 to year 3 contestants and a 100-percent scholarship for one year of Master program to year 4 contestants.

- Second Place: A 2^nd Place Medal, a Certificate, 200$ in cash, and a 100-percent discount for a semester.

- Third Place: A 3^rd Place Medal, a Certificate and 100$ in cash.

Beside these rewards, all contestants from year 1, year 2, year 3 and year 4 will be sponsored with a free trip to Angkor Wat Temple for 3 days and 2 nights.

In this occasion, H.E Ly Chheng showed his admiration for all the contestants especially the winners of English Speaking Contest who had put their best effort since the First Round until the Final Round of Contest. His Excellency added that this program is conceived with the aim of improving the quality of Education in General English Program to match with the motto of BELTEI “ Quality, Efficiency, Excellence, Morality, Virtue”, and to improve students’ bravery in their speech, action and responsibility. His Excellency advised all the contestants to expand their knowledge after their graduation from various majors and to improve their abilities in expertise, skills and language proficiency. Furthermore, Students should be aware that English is the essential language in all four macro skills: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing and to be ready for the upcoming ASEAN Integration in 2015. His Excellency remarked that all students are very fortunate to be born in the time of peace and under the leadership of Samdach Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, who provides security and peace throughout the country by developing all sectors. Moreover, His Excellency reminded all students to do only good deed in order to be the Bamboo Shoot growing up be as Bamboo for the future of the country.

Finally, His Excellency awarded winning prizes and consolation prizes to all contestants who took part in the Final Round.
