The Inauguration of a Statue of Women Carrying a Sheaf of
Rice and Statue of Shiva in Prey Veng Province
In the morning on 03 April 2014, in Prey Veng province, there was an inauguration ceremony for the Statue of Woman Carrying a Sheaf of Rice and the Statue of Shiva under the high presidency of H.E. HAS Sareth Provincial Governor in Prey Veng province with the honorable presences of H.E. SENG Chhuon Royal Government Delegate in charge of President of Neak Leurng Ferry Station and H.E. LY Chheng advisor to the Council of Ministers and Director-General of BELTEI Group and Lokchumteav with 700 participants of government officials, teachers, students and citizens. According to the report from Mr. Sin Sarak Mayor of Prey Veng town stated that the development in the town is due to the contributions from private sectors and citizens to develop on schools, roads, monastery, fence, gate, temples, etc. Obviously, today was the inauguration day for two more statues: a Statue of Women Carrying a Sheaf of Rice made from sandstone which is 3.40 meters height and put on the terrace that is 3.20 meters height, totally 6.60 meters height. This statue was built at the three-road conjunction, at the entrance of Prey Veng town, 135 meters from the bridge 1, and it is financially supported by H.E. LY Chheng and Lok Chumteav BUO Ear which cost 15,000$. The second statue is ten-hand Shiva made of cement which is 3 meters height and put on the terrace which is 2.20 meters height, totally 5.20 meters height. This statue was built at the entrance of Prey Veng town 45 meters away from Ek Karam Pagoda, and it is financially support by H.E. SENG Chuon and Lok Chumteav OEUNG Muoyhuong in associated with Mr. PREAP Kearath and Madam which cost 9,000 $ . Then H.E. LY Chheng made his statement by raising brief histories of infrastructure development in Prey Veng town since 1980 that the time when his father was the head of Village No. 3. Later in 2000, H.E. also continue to develop those infrastructures until today such as building pagoda's fence, Buddhist primary school, repairing temples at Sam Samey pagoda and Sovann pagoda which were totally cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. This time, H.E financially supported for the Statue of Women Carrying a Sheaf of Rice for the whole people in Prey Veng town. H.E. also appealed to all the students that they have to study hard to increase the knowledge in order to become a good child, a good friend , a good student, and a good citizen by complying with the 3 principles of learning: learn from school, learn from work, learn from yourself because this is a good opportunity for all of them who were born in the time that the country has full peace under the leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia , who makes the nation developed in all fields . In that occasion, H.E. HAS Sareth Provincial Governor in Prey Veng province had his warm welcoming speech to all citizens and monks and H.E. also thanked to H.E. SENG Chuon, H.E. LY Chheng and Lokchumteav and their families for their emotional and financial supports contributed with the Government to support infrastructures in the province which have benefited to all people. Then, H.E. HAS Sareth, H.E. SENG Chuon, H.E. LY Chheng and Lokchumteav also brought gifts from Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN and Lokchumteav Kittiprittbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen Totally 10,430,000 Riels, 100 pieces of clothes, 272 books and pens to offer to 7 monks (each got 30,000 R and a package of gift.), to 100 laymen (each got 5,000 Riels and a piece of cloth.), to 68 teachers (each got 20,000 Riels and a piece of cloth.), to 200 citizens (each got 1 Sarong.), and to 272 students (each got 3,000 riels and a pen and a book). At the end, H.E. HAS Sareth, H.E. SENG Chuon, H.E. LY Chheng and Lokchumteav Officially announced for inauguration of the two statues. |
