Conducts Extra-Curricular Course “The Concept of Buddhism”
for 1,707 Grade 9 Students
On November 19, 2016, BELTEI International School organized an extra-curricular program on the theme of “ Concepts of Buddhism” for 1,707 BELTEI IS’s grade 9 students from 16 campuses of BELTEI International School, which was preached by Ven. Preah Likhet Panha Ben Vibol, executive director of Printing and Education Support Association. Mr. LY BUnchhay, deputy director-general of BELTEI Group in charge of BELTEI International School said that BELTEI International School has included 7 main extra-curricular courses for General Education and ESL students as the following: 1. Know How Improvement Program 2. Mental Improvement Program 3. Field Trip Program 4. TV Program 5. Writing Contest Program 6. Mathematics Contest Program, and 7. Talent Contest Program. Each program is divided into categories as below: 1. Know How Improvement Program focuses on - The Concept of Buddhism for grade 9, - Food Safety and Traffic Laws for grade 10, - Awareness of Drugs and HIV for grade 11, and - Anti-Corruption Laws and the roles of youths in the society for grade 12 2. Mental Improvement Program focuses on -Public Speaking Contest, -English Speaking Contest, and -Debate Program 3. Field Trip Program - Grade 4 & 5 and Level 4 & 5 visit the Royal Palace. - Grade 6 and Level 6 visit the National Museum. - Grade 7 and Level 7 visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. - Grade 8 and Level 8 visit Cheung Ek Genocidal Center. - Grade 9 and Level 9 visit the National Museum and Tamao Mountain. - Grade 10 and Level 10 visit the Royal Palace and Oudong Mountain. - Grade 11 and Level 11 visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and Kirirom resort. - Grade 12 and Level 12 visit Cheung Ek Genocidal Center and Sambo Preykok Temple. 4. TV Program: Students study English and Khmer songs, Folktales and esteemed orator’s point of views. 5. Writing Contest Program: Enabling young learners to be able to write paragraph correctly and adult learners to write essays well. 6. Mathematics Contest Program: Making students smart and fast in calculating number, and solving math problems. 7. Talent Contest Program: Encouraging and giving students a chance to show their inborn talent. In the meantime, Ven. Preah Likhet Panha Ben Vibol said that he came to preach in this event in order to imbue with awareness of Dharma and promote the value of Buddhism which is a state’s religion as well as to permeate Buddhist’s speeches which educate individuals about good deeds and bad deeds, sins, morality and virtue in the society and abstaining drug abuse, domestic violence, pedophilic acts, raping, and being aware of health problems, road accidents, intimidations; particularly, edifying the youths to commit wisely and work hard towards their studies in order to become bamboo-shoots which will take place of bamboo trees for the nation in the future. |
