a Kathina Ceremony to Chamkar Ksarch Pagoda, Sangkat
Spean Thmor, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh
H.E LY Chheng, Director-General of BELTEI Group and the President of BELTEI International University and Lok Chumteav BOU Ear along with the BELTEI Management Team and staff, as well as the Buddhist laymen have organized a Solidarity Kathina Ceremony in order to offer to the monks who are refrained from alms collection during the rainy season in Chamkar Ksarch Pagoda, Sangkat Spean Thmor, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh. On the afternoon of October 31, 2015, Mr. ROS Roeun, the Chief of Commune of Spean Thmor, as well as the member of the Kathina Ceremony Committee met with the laymen to participate in the blessing ritual, which included Dharma talks by the monks. They reported that there were difficulties during the construction of the dining hall and primary Dharma school, which is 60% complete with an estimated total cost of $200,000 (USD). Mr. ROS Roeun expressed his gratitude to His Excellency LY Chheng, BELTEI Management Team and staff who always support the villagers in Sangkat Spean Thomor, regardless of their political affiliation. The support includes, but is not limited to: salaries for two English teachers at a cost of $185 (USD) per month dedicated to teach 150 students from the village; compassionate donations of 200,000 Riel for each family who experienced a family member's passing; maternity assistance of 100,000 Riel for each mother who delivered a baby. He further expressed his profound thanks to Mr. LY Navuth, Vice President of BELTEI International University for his leadership, as the BELTEI Charity Foundation has helped 50 families in need donating $100 to each family. During the occasion, H.E. LY Chheng, Director-General of BELTEI Group offered conversation, praise and thanks to the senior monk, monks and laymen living near the pagoda along with the Management Team, staff, lecturers and teachers of BELTEI Group for coming together to celebrate the Kathina Ceremony. His Excellency stated that the purpose of the Kathina Ceremony was to gather the support necessary to advance the needs of the Chamkar Ksarch Pagoda compound, especially the dinning hall and the Primary Dharma School of Buddhism, which remain under construction. H.E. noted that the successful event demonstrated that the community is strong with a bright future ensuring successful completion of the project. H.E. recommended that the local residents enroll their children in the new academic year, as human resources are critical for developing the country moving forward. Finally, he reminded the audience that all Cambodians, particularly the current and future students, are fortunate to have been blessed by the Samdech Techo HUN SEN era because the country is peaceful and stable with all sectors developing, especially the education sector. It should be noted that the total amount of contributions received as a result of this Kathina Ceremony is 109,178,700 Riel (One hundred nine million, one hundred seventy-eight thousand, seven hundred Riel). The contributions were given to the Buddhist Monks in Chamkar Ksarch Pagoda to meet the remaining needs of the community, and essential to complete the project in accordance with Buddhism. |
